Get Ready For Finals!!!!

Finals are among us!!! Here are some helpful tips to help you make it through!!!
  • Know your final exam schedule!!
  • Tips for successful test-taking:

¨ Write down your name on the test and answer sheet.

¨ Analyze, ask, and stay calm. Take a long deep breath. Read all the directions so that you understand what to do.

¨ Make the best use of your time. Survey the exam and decide how much time you’ll need for each section.

¨ Answer the easy questions first.

¨ Before looking at the questions, turn the test over and write down any formulas or key concepts.

¨ If you start to panic. STOP. Take a deep breath take a break and go to something else. Come back to it.

¨ If you finish early, DON’T LEAVE. Take the extra time to review for errors.

  • Tips for successful research papers:

¨ Plan Ahead. Make sure that you have set aside enough time to complete the assignment. Use an Outline.

¨ Use the Resources at Your University. These include your professor, the library and librarians, and a university writing center. Don't Plagiarize!

¨ Follow the Professor's Instructions.

  • Tips for successful group projects:

¨ Get Organized Immediately

¨ Clarify the Assignment

¨ Speak Up: Group success depends on a free and broad exchange of ideas, everyone needs to contribute.

¨ Avoid Group-think: this is when the group reaches a consensus about something without question – even if that idea is not actually the best one for the group.

¨ Group Workload Balance: To some degree, there's only so much you can do about this, other than to make sure you get your own work done. If someone isn't doing enough work, the first thing to do is to point this out to this person gently. You may want to get other group members to "back you up." If the problem persists, voice your frustrations more emphatically. Avoid getting the instructor involved if at all possible, but if all else fails, report the problem to the "authority.“
